Are alcoholic beverage containers included under BC's beverage container deposit/refund schedule?

Yes. Alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine, and spirits, are included in the deposit/refund recycling program. The deposit for alcoholic beverage containers up to and including 1 litre is 10 cents. The deposit for alcoholic beverage containers larger than 1 litre is 20 cents.

The recycling program for refillable domestic beer and cider bottles, plus any beer in aluminum cans, is administered by the Brewers Association of Canada. For a full refund of your deposit, these containers can be returned to any government owned liquor store. Encorp bottle depots will also accept domestic beer and cider bottles and beer cans for recycling, although refund values may vary.

To locate a depot nearest to you, call the RCBC Recycling Hotline or visit the RCBC Recyclepedia or Encorp website.
