How do I Recycle Stand Up and Zipper Lock Pouches?

Warning message

Some recycling and solid waste facilities are temporarily closed, operating with reduced hours, or accepting a limited range of materials – please call ahead. Consider delaying your visit to facilities unless absolutely necessary by storing dry recyclables and other items at home temporarily.

Residential stand up and zipper lock pouches are included in a province-wide recycling program for packaging and printed paper, managed by Recycle BC.  Through this program, pouches are included in a category called Other Flexible Plastic Packaging.  This would include pouches for frozen fruit, coffee beans, rice, and other products.  For a complete list of products included in the Recycle BC program for Other Flexible Plastic Packaging, please visit the Recycle BC website

These pouches are not included in the curbside recycling program, but can be dropped off at a participating depot free of charge.  For a complete list of locations, visit the Recyclepedia or contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline.

Stand up pouches from commercial sources are not included in the Recycle BC program.  To see whether local options exist for commercial plastic recycling, contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline
