How can I recycle my soup and broth containers (eg. tetra packs)?

Aseptic packaging containers of all types are included in a recycling program managed by Recycle BC. Through this program, tetra packs are included in many curbside recycling programs across the province. For those who cannot include them in their household recycling, there are also depots that accept them for free drop-off. For local options, contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline.

These containers are recycled through a process called hydro-pulping, where they are placed in a fast spinning water bath. This movement removes the plastic coating from the paper underneath, and allows both of the materials to be recycled separately. Paper from this process is made into everyday items such as paper towels, tissues, and paper cover for drywall.
