How do I go about setting up a recycling program at my work place?

Warning message

Some recycling and solid waste facilities are temporarily closed, operating with reduced hours, or accepting a limited range of materials – please call ahead. Consider delaying your visit to facilities unless absolutely necessary by storing dry recyclables and other items at home temporarily.

Many companies throughout the province offer recycling pick up for businesses, often tailored to meet each company's individual needs.  Generally, these services include paper and cardboard recycling, as well as plastic and glass recycling in some instances.  Recycling bins are often included in this service for distribution throughout the work place.  For a list of possible companies, contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline.

If you want to start a recycling program for your business, or even just expand your existing program, there are plenty of resources available online to help you get going.  Check out RCBC's Waste Reduction Week page for a complete resource kit for business, a booklet of tips, and case studies of successful waste reduction plans for six BC businesses.
