Where can I take used motor oil?

Used motor oil, oil filters and oil containers are accepted through the BC Used Oil Recycling program, which is managed by the BC Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA). The materials can be dropped off at various collection depots throughout the province, which include participating garages, dealerships and retailers. These collection facilities can accept residential amounts (approximately 10-15 litres) per visit free of charge; please contact them ahead of time to ensure they have the storage capacity to handle the volume that you have. For a list of drop-off locations nearest you, contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline, or visit the RCBC Recyclepedia or BCUOMA websites.

This program is funded in part by Environmentally Handling Charges (EHCs), charged on eligible oil products at the time of purchase. The EHCs help cover the costs of collection, transportation and processing of materials. Contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline for more information on applicable fees.
